2008 NAPSA Conference Plenary Stakeholder Roundtable on Pretrial Justice
If you missed last year’s conference, or wished you could share what you saw
with your colleagues, you’re in luck! For the first time, you can
get a copy of last year’s excellent plenary entitled
"Stakeholder Roundtable on Pretrial Justice".
The Stakeholder Roundtable featured various practitioners’ points of view on the decision to release, detain or divert defendants. As we know, this decision affects not only defendants, but the various system actors throughout. The Roundtable provided a stimulating dialogue between pretrial services, judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the Sheriffs office. They debated the value of pretrial services agencies, effect of emerging legislation on the front end of the system, and what each representative would like to see in a pretrial services program. This was followed by a question and answer session. The following representatives participated in the discussion facilitated by PJI’s Executive Director Tim Murray, Magistrate Judge William E. Callahan, Jr. (US Magistrate Judge), Honorable Judge Truman A. Morrison, III (Senior Judge, Superior Court of DC), Sharon Trexler (Director, Montgomery County Pretrial Services, Maryland), Carlos Martinez (Public Defender-Elect, Miami-Dade County, FL), Drew Alexander (Summit County, Ohio Sheriff), and William Lipscomb (US Attorney).
In a time of economic uncertainty, when the value of county programs is being examined, this DVD may prove valuable in supporting and sustaining pretrial services agencies. Take this opportunity to get a copy for your organization. The DVD runs approximately 90 minutes. Help support NAPSA and get your copy today with a $10 donation.
